Samuel Safa is a composer, writer, and director working across film, video games, and live entertainment. He is also a mentor at the Newf Compose Yourself Lab in partnership with National Geographic.

 

In the film industry, he has composed music for several productions, including Smile of April by Sabrina Karine and Jessica Brajoux, Soudain ses mains by Emmanuel Gras, and El Conquistador by Mathilde Bayle. His work also extends to documentary films for TV and cinema, with notable contributions to Les Mondes Perdus, The Sand Eating Shark (Best Original Score at the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards), and Asteroids Rush (Best Original Music award for a feature film at the Cosmo Genetics Film Festival), in which renowned cellist Tina Guo performs the cello parts.

 

In the video game industry, Samuel has composed for numerous titles, including 2Dark by Frederick Raynal (winner of the 2018 Jerry Goldsmith Award for Best Video Game Composer and nominee for the Ping Award for Best Soundtrack), as well as Kill The Bad Guy and Tiny Token Empires. His work is characterized by a deep sense of storytelling, enhancing the player’s immersion through powerful and evocative music.

 

Beyond composition, Samuel is committed to mentoring young talent. At the Compose Yourself Lab in South Africa, in collaboration with National Geographic, he guides aspiring composers. Alongside his students, he won the Jackson Wild Media Award for Best Original Music for the film Nkashi: Race for the Okavango.

 

Samuel also writes, produces, and directs musicals in collaboration with his brother Julien Safa. Their productions include Sherlock Holmes: The Musical Adventure (winner of Best Young Audience Show at the Musical Comedy Trophies), Chat Botté the Musical, Pirates: The Destiny of Evan Kingsley, and Lynn: The Origins of Christmas.
